Plot Summary: The only copy of the ultimate horror novel has vanished along with the author, Sutter Cane. The book's power seems to drive its readers to insanity. John Trent, an insurance investigator, is sent to track down the book. His search takes him to Hobb's End, a town Cane fictionalised in his novels, where Trent realises the true purpose of the book.
